Local plan review

Issues and options consultation

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is reviewing their current adopted local plans, specifically, the Core strategy (adopted 2011) and the site allocations and development management policies (adopted 2015). The Local plan review will lead to a new local plan to replace the existing adopted plans, and will cover the period 2018 to 2036.

The first stage of the review was the public consultation on issues and options.

The consultation consisted of a main document that set out the key matters which the Council consider need to be addressed in the Local plan review.

The Issues and options consultation document was accompanied by two other key documents:

The consultation ran from 11th February 2019 until 5pm on 1st April 2019.

Now that the consultation has concluded the Council will consider all the comments sent in. Further evidence will be commissioned throughout 2019 to inform the development of the proposals and policies in the plan. The plan is then scheduled to be consulted on at Publication stage (Regulation 19) in 2020 with a view to submitting the plan for examination towards the end of 2020.

Future updates on the Local plan review will be published here.
